THOMAS IVORY, PARTNER

ATTORNEY PROFILE

Thomas Ivory is a native of Ireland who came to the United States at age 22. His personal experience with immigration makes him a passionate and trusted advocate for his clients whether he is representing them through the immigration process, restoring their driving privileges or litigating their criminal matter.

Mr. Ivory has represented immigrants of many nationalities who have been accused of running afoul of the law. He is sensitive to the added complications faced by an arrested immigrant whose immigration status multiplies the potential consequences of a criminal or traffic charge.

Mr. Ivory chairs the Traffic Litigation section at GPFF and is a talented trial lawyer. He has handled hundreds of cases ranging from homicide by vehicle, robbery, burglary, sexual assault charges, drug offenses, white-collar charges, Food and Drug Administration charges, internet offenses, driving under the influence cases and traffic and driver licensing issues in Federal and District court in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. He began his legal career at the Defender Association of Philadelphia in 1996. While there he was a member of the major trials unit where he represented clients before juries charged with the most serious offenses. There he developed a reputation as a tireless advocate among judges, his peers and his opponents.

Mr. Ivory also maintains close relationship with labor unions in the Philadelphia area. From 2000-2002, he represented members of Local 57 of the Laborer’s Union as well the United Independent Unions. He handled all of the criminal cases for those unions. It was there that he developed expertise in the legal issues surrounding driving licensing and traffic violations. From 2002 to 2006 he practiced as a sole practitioner in criminal defense and in traffic and driving licensing issues.

Mr. Ivory joined forces with Greenblatt, Funt & Flores (the predecessor to Greenblatt, Pierce, Funt and Flores) in November 2006. In addition to heading the Traffic Litigation Section, he also continues to maintain a large criminal client base. He successfully tries criminal cases in the five-county region in all criminal charges including drug, robbery, burglary, assault and sex offenses among others. Prior to joining the firm,Mr. Ivory developed a reputation as one of the leading lawyers in the areas of DUI, driver licensing restoration and traffic offenses in the City of Philadelphia and surrounding counties. His unique skill set: utilizing his superior trial skills with his expert knowledge and ability to navigate Philadelphia Traffic Court and PennDot driving license issues, makes him an invaluable advocate for clients facing the loss of their license or suspension of driving privileges which is often the difference between maintaining and losing one’s job.

Mr. Ivory has not forgotten his roots and remains active in the Irish community in the Philadelphia region. As well as being an active member of the Brehon Law Society, he is a founder member and active participant of the Irish Network (Philadelphia branch) an organization of ex-patriate Irish business people and professionals http://irishnetwork-philly.com/ .
